ARBROATH WEST KIRK

SC NO 006482

NOMINATION OF SOLE NOMINEE

At a meeting held virtually on 12 August 2020 the Nominating Committee chose the person whom they wish to propose to the congregation of Arbroath West Kirk to be the new minister.  The name of the person proposed is Mrs Christine Hay (Chris)

Arrangements have been made for Chris to conduct public worship in Arbroath West Kirk on the morning of Sunday 27th September 2020 at 11 o’clock.  As we are restricted by Scottish Government and Church of Scotland guidelines to the numbers of people attending worship we have made the following arrangements, subject to Government guidance:-

50 people can attend worship in the Church

40 people can attend worship in the New Hall – service will be relayed from Church

40 people can attend worship in the Old Hall – service will be relayed from Church

Please note you must book your seat by calling the office, during office hours, and seats will be allocated accordingly as above.  The office hours will be Monday 9-11am, Tuesday 9-1pm and Thursday 12.45 – 4.45pm.  The telephone number is 01241 434721.

For those unable to attend in person arrangements have been made to broadcast the service on Angus North Radio on the afternoon of 27th September 2020.

We have also arranged for the service to be recorded and uploaded on the Church website.

You have received an individually numbered Voting Paper because you are entitled to vote as your name appears of the Electoral Register of Arbroath West.  If you attend the service in person on 27th September, please bring your Voting Paper and a pen with you to cast your vote – you have also been given an envelope in which to place your vote once you’ve marked your “x” in the appropriate box.  If you cannot attend in person but wish to vote, please put your marked voting paper in the envelope provided and post through the Church letterbox not later than noon on Friday 2 October 2020.  Votes received after this time will not be counted.  The Kirk Session will meet on Sunday 4 October 2020 and the result will be published on the website as well as being announced during the morning service.

For those attending in person, it will be restricted to the numbers as above.  It should be noted that there will be no singing during the service, individuals will be socially distancing and should wear a mask unless medically exempt.  You will be asked to sign in when you arrive to allow us to ensure we have the Track and Protect measures in place.  You should remain in your seat after the service ends until advised by a Duty Elder to cast your vote and exit the building.  Please remember that when you leave the building you must not congregate on the church grounds and you should socially distance yourselves to remain in compliance with Government guidelines.  My suggestion would be that you should immediately return home when you leave the building – please do not stand around and wait to speak to friends and neighbours.

These arrangements will allow as many people as possible to hear Chris preach and to record their vote thereafter. We appreciate that this is not ideal but under the COVID-19 circumstances it is the most effective way of progressing the appointment of a new minister.
